The World.
In tarot, The World is the final card of the Major Arcana. It represents completion, fulfillment, and the integration of all you've learned. In other words: enlightenment. When this card appears, it signals that a cycle is ending and you're ready to step into a new phase with wisdom and wholeness. It's about achievement, but also about recognizing that every ending is a beginning.
I wanted to capture that moment of standing at the threshold. She holds the literal globe (and yes, it can actually spin), her hand gently protecting but not controlling. Her headdress is an intricate cosmos of swirling galaxies, crowning her with the vastness of the universe. It's a reminder that she is both part of the infinite and the force that shapes it. She is draped in vibrant, wing-like regalia that echoes the four fixed zodiac signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius), which traditionally appear in the corners of The World card, representing the elements and stability.
This piece took several weeks to build. The headdress alone has multiple layers of collage, clay, and gold leaf accents. I kept returning to the idea of completion without finality, of being whole while still becoming.
The World marks the end of the Fool's journey, a culmination of lessons learned and trials overcome. She speaks to anyone who has done the work, walked through difficult lessons, and emerged transformed. She stands at the threshold of completion and renewal, a figure both celestial and earthbound. The World is not just a destination but a moment of realization: a mastery of the self, a merging of all elements into one.
