Inspired by love of Art Nouveau, I incorporated intense candy coloured graphics with curvilinear form to tell the story of this young woman. Who is she? She is the many. Perhaps a friend, a sister, or mother…she might be you, she is definitely a part of me…She is exposed yet armoured, has survived trauma and emerged all the stronger. She is dark, yet beautiful, solemn but triumphant. Each little jubilant bubble that surrounds her, a metaphor for the layered, textured memories she has put behind her. A halo of light behind her head is encircled with black and white…the light and dark, the yin and yang. Symbols for metamorphosis, growth and protection permeate the canvas. The longer you look, the more you will see.
